Sade, the “quiet storm” R&B group featuring vocalist Sade Adu, has completed its long-awaited sixth studio album. “Soldier of Love,” the band’s first collection of new material since 2000’s “Lover’s Rock” will be released Feb. 8, 2010 worldwide on Epic.

As first revealed on Billboard.com in July, Sade and her longtime bandmates including Stuart Matthewman, a.k.a. Cottonbelly, regrouped in a U.K. recording studio in June and were recording and mixing into October. Read the rest of this entry »

An artwork which will be featured on the front cover of compilation album from Lil Wayne’s label Young Money has arrived. It features Weezey watching over his crew which include Drake, Nicki Minaj, Mack Maine and Tyga.

Diddy’s stream of band fallouts is continuing as Day 26 formally announces that they’ve left his Bad Boy record label. While Diddy embarks on new territory with his recent signing to Interscope, his brain child of Quanell, Willie, Brian and Mike will do the same. The group has moved from Diddy’s emblem to Atlantic Records. By doing so, hopefully they’ll be able to salvage their career before their demise a la Danity Kane.

Sunday night around 10pm, Bawsten bka Daddy Bawsten was pulled over by South Plainfield police and arrested for a warrant. While in jail he took the leisure of taking pictures of the event. Above you can see the photo of him being detained. Bawsten was released last night and is out on bail.

FABOLOUS ENTOURAGE STEALS LAMBO!

Police are investigating Fabolous and his entourage for a car stolen in early January of this year in an upscale Atlanta hotel. According to Channel 2 Action News, Atlanta police claim that Fabolous’s crew stole a 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. The rare vehicle was only 1 of the 2 brought into the United States last year. MIKE TYSON ARRESTED IN AIRPORT SCUFFLE!

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson was arrested on Wednesday after a scuffle with a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport, police said.

No further details were immediately available.

Tyson, whose nickname was “Iron Mike” during his 1980s boxing heyday, won his first championship title at age 20.

In 1992, Tyson was convicted of sexually assaulting a young woman and spent three years in prison. He tried to mount a comeback, but eventually retired from boxing in 2005. He is 43 years old. (via reuters.com)

A few years ago, I finally got around to reading “Black No More,” a novel by the late journalist, social satirist and novelist George Schuyler.

A former reporter for the Pittsburgh Courier, Mr. Schuyler was both a black conservative and a “race man,” an archaic term that refers to someone who takes upon himself the duty of protecting and defending the black race.

First published in 1931, “Black No More” is a hilarious and brutal tale about Max Disher, a Harlem insurance agent and neighborhood rogue who undergoes a pigment-lightening process said to have been invented by Dr. Junius Crookmore, a black mad scientist. Dr. Crookmore’s studies in Germany led to the invention of a machine that turns people of African descent into Swedes and Norwegians.
