iAm proud to announce that the remake of 1984’s The Karate Kid starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan had debuted at #1 over the weekend! Hollywood.com has stated that the movie made an estimation of $56 million dollars by yesterday evening. The movie was produced with a budget of 40 million and it exceeded the studio’s expectations (along with peoples expectations including myself). The movie itself was produced by Jaden’s parents Will and Jada Pinkett Smith. Another 80’s hit, The A-Team came in at second place with 26 million this weekend. I’m relieved that the Karate Kid did great on it’s opening weekend, and also received mixed (mostly positive) reviews from critics. iWas very much double sided when it came to the film. A part of me wanted it to do great, while another part of me had its doubts. iThink that Jaden has a promising career as a child star and can work his way up to a wonderful adult star like both of his parents. He’s already won 7 awards and has critical acclaim. Along with acting, Jaden is also a dancer and rapper as he appears on the “theme song” to the movie entitled Never Say Never which features teen Pop (and annoying) star Justin Beiber.
For all of you Harry Potter fans out there, The MTV Movie Awards has a treat for you! As we all know the Movie Awards has had a long established history of bringing you sneak peeks of highly anticipated upcoming flicks, (not to mention many different suprises…remember the Eminmen inncident with Bruno) and this Sunday’s show is no exception. Being that the last installment comes out next year, it’ll be good if iWait until then. iCan very much excited for this sneek peek, iMay actually go to the theaters to see it…or wait for my local bootlegger guy :).
$70 to see a 2 hour movie that may not even be all what it’s cracked up to be?! I know what you guys are saying “Who in the hell would pay that much money to see a damn movie?” Well the Arclight Hollywood Theater in Los Angeles hopes that Sex and the City fans would. Here’s the catch, the theater is hosting a series od deluxe viewing parties for the glamour filled flick, turning a simple movie trip to the best damn girl’s night out! The $70 fee includes a pre-party pass held at the Hollywood theater, complete with Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica parker) appetizers and food, Sex and the City inspired drinks, and a very enthusiastic viewing of the film. I think that devoted Sex and the City fans (like myself) won’t let the drought of the economy stand betwen them and Ms. Carrie Bradshaw. Why would they? After all, it’s fashion.
